BIOGRAPHY:
Dr. Darling is Professor of History and Interdisciplinary Studies, and Director of the African American & Ethnic Studies Program at Adelphi University. . At Adelphi, Dr. Darling teaches about African American history and culture, the history of conscience and social justice movements, women and international development, and significant issues in globalization. She does research on the impact of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and the impact of globalization on distributive justice issues, including the emergence of biomedical technologies and their impact on privacy and human rights. . Dr. Darling is a member of the Committee on Women, Population and the Environment, and a former board member of the Association for Women's Rights in International Development, and the National Black Women's Health Project. She is the president of the Nassau/Suffolk Chapter of the Association of Black Women in Higher Education, and is a Council Member on Long Island Women's Agenda. She is the author of: "Eugenics Unbound: Race, Gender and Genetics" in Women's Health, Women's Rights: Perspectives on Global Health Issues, Vijay Agnew, ed.; Gendered Globalizations, State Interests, Women of Color and Marginalized Women," in n.paradoxa: Feminist Journal, London, England, Vol. 8, 2001; "The State, Friend or Foe?: Distributive Justice Issues and Challenges," in, Dangerous Intersections: Feminist Perspectives on Population, Environment & Development, Jael Silliman, ed.; and a number of research papers.
